7TH, 8TH and 9TH April

Opua Cruising Club Junior Sailing Shed, Baffin Street, OPUA

Opua Cruising Club (OCC) is offering three days of “Learn to Sail – NZYF Level One” for children new to sailing.

First week of the school holidays – Tuesday 7th, Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th April 2015

  • Sailors will use OCC club optimist boats
  • Sailors must be a minimum of eight years old and be able to swim 50m in deepwater
  • Sailors will need to wear clothes suitable for dinghy sailing – wetsuits, with thermals and a spray jacket recommended, plus a change of clothes and towel
  • OCC does have a range of club life jackets but if sailors have their own they are encouraged to bring them
  • Coaching will start at 9am and concluded at 3pm each day.  There will be a mix of activities on and off the water
  • Lunch and morning tea will be provided
  • All sailors will receive a Yachting New Zealand Learn to Sail Handbook and Certificate of Participation
  • Sailors will be accompanied by on-the-water coaches in OCC safety boats
  • Parents and caregivers are not required to attend
  • Cost is $100 per sailor, payable with registration to reserve your place
