SCHOOL HOLIDAY LEARN TO SAIL
7TH, 8TH and 9TH April
Opua Cruising Club Junior Sailing Shed, Baffin Street, OPUA
Opua Cruising Club (OCC) is offering three days of “Learn to Sail – NZYF Level One” for children new to sailing.
First week of the school holidays – Tuesday 7th, Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th April 2015
- Sailors will use OCC club optimist boats
- Sailors must be a minimum of eight years old and be able to swim 50m in deepwater
- Sailors will need to wear clothes suitable for dinghy sailing – wetsuits, with thermals and a spray jacket recommended, plus a change of clothes and towel
- OCC does have a range of club life jackets but if sailors have their own they are encouraged to bring them
- Coaching will start at 9am and concluded at 3pm each day. There will be a mix of activities on and off the water
- Lunch and morning tea will be provided
- All sailors will receive a Yachting New Zealand Learn to Sail Handbook and Certificate of Participation
- Sailors will be accompanied by on-the-water coaches in OCC safety boats
- Parents and caregivers are not required to attend
- Cost is $100 per sailor, payable with registration to reserve your place
