Good turnout for first ladies race

The first Anne of Craicor Ladies Race of the season saw a fantastic turnout of ten boats – well done girls, keep it up!

A good, constant breeze to start gave us a nice easy reach up to the top ‘Romeyn’ mark, then around ‘Pomare’, and a few keen boats opted to raise spinnakers for the short run to ‘Oyster’. Then it was back down the Waikare Inlet where the breeze began to lighten, and around ‘Smiths’, before a slow-ish beat back to the finish line against the tide.

A minor but very ladylike protest was arbitrated in the club, as Sala and Trail A debated whether the ‘out of bounds’ moorings were on the Paihia or Waikare side of the line. After much confusion and poring over the rules on the noticeboard, it was concluded that the moorings on the Paihia side are indeed out of bounds!

Final results after handicaps were applied were…
1. Kantime
2. Cut Lunch
3. Desperado
4. Bandit
5. Sala
6. Nexus
7. Frivolous Fish
8. Casco
9. Trail A
10. Frantic
