Refurbishment – Clubroom Closure

The Clubroom will be closed from Monday 12/10/2015 noon until Wednesday 14/10/2015 4 pm. Derek and Beryl are applying the last coat of paint on the doors and frames.

The Annual Working Bee to tidy-up our Club is a much bigger job this year.  A hardy group of volunteers began work on Saturday 3rd to give the members lounge a much-needed facelift and the work programme will continue for some time yet.  SO if you are handy with a paint brush or can upholster contact Andy or myself and we will find a few hours work for you!!  The intention is to have the lounge useable during Bar opening hours so its business as usual.

The initial workplan is to repaint all of the walls and joinery, relocate the Sound Boards to absorb reflected sound from the walls and use sails to decorate the ceiling space and – hopefully – further improve the acoustics.

Following this we have about 25 Chairs to re-upholster and repaint frames, a number of Bar Stools to repair and Couches that look very tired to be cleaned and/or recovered.

Next, we need to replace the existing Polypropylene Carpet which absorbs stains with a Solution Dyed Nylon product that can be easily cleaned.  Finally, we need to clean the building exterior and Deck and there is a plan to modify the clear screens to make them easier to use.

If there is any enthusiasm left after all that, there are a large number of tables on the deck that need to be repainted – maybe next year !!

Saturday 1/8/2015 – Working Bee Major Cleanup by Dinghy Shed – start 9.30 am

Working bee, to tidy up the two storage sheds and boat storage area. This is long overdue and will be major tidy up.

If you have any gear or boats that are yours and you want to retain what’s yours, please remove it by the 1st of August.

If you are unable to do so, please phone me or email and we can arrange something. Any gear not claimed or removed will be disposed or sold, with any funds received going into the dinghy sailing fund.

If you have a boat or trailer in the boat storage area, we would like you to show up and help tidy up.

We are looking at a bit of metal to fill holes, trimming of overhanging branches, weed spraying, etc., A general well overdue cleanup.
If anyone can help, please do so, we will be starting around 9.30, even if you can not make it then, but later, I am sure we are there.
Regards and Thanks,
Peter Boyd
