Let’s Talk! Health Evening 2nd June 2016

Hosted by our own Pharmacist and Actress (the cat), Jilly Alexander

What is the leading cause of death in men?

What is my blood pressure and why is it important?

What is a “standard drink”?

These are common questions that you may or may not know the answer to. I hope to inform you about various aspects of Men’s Health, and how you can be pro-active about your well-being. As a pharmacist, I think it is very important that people are knowledgeable about their health. Very often men do not talk about their health worries with their loved ones, and do not get regular check ups by their doctor. I am developing a programme called “Let’s Talk”… in this case – Let’s Talk about Men’s Health, in the hope to educate my local community and encourage people to engage with their health care professionals. As with all initiatives, it takes a lot of hard work to get the ball rolling. I have already held one Men’s Health event with the Okaihau Lions Club in early April. It was a fun night with lots of laughs, even some wives attended. I would like to host such an event at the Opua Cruising Club, and invite all interested parties to come along for an evening of health education.
