For several years this elegant trophy, which is contested for between the Opua Cruising Club and the Russell Boat Club, held pride of place on the wall above our OCC bar. But last year, alas, apathy set in. We failed to field a decent team and the inevitable happened – RBC won the trophy and we have a bare patch on the wall.
This year we must regain our self respect and field our strongest team of boats to win back this trophy. You do not have to be selected to race and the more boats that participate, the greater our chance of returning this magnificent trophy to it’s rightful place over our OCC bar.
The dates of the three race series are as follows:
Race 1: 6th May – Start 1100 at Opua (download course sheet now)
Race 2: 20th May – Start 1100 at Russell
(download course sheet now)
Race 3: 10th June – Start 1100 at Opua
These are marked on your OCC calendar as ‘Opua – Russell Interclub Series’.
One of these dates clashes with our Elliott 5.9 Open Meeting which will deplete our team, so we really do need all of you keen sailors to rally round, organise your crew and join in winning back this fine trophy.
