Did you know it’s a legal requirement for users of marine VHF radio to hold an appropriate radio operators qualification? So if you aren’t qualified, and you have a VHF on your boat – fixed or hand-held – you could be breaking the law every time you use it.
Fortunately, Coastguard Maritime School is coming to Opua Cruising Club on Sunday 19th February to run a one-day course where you can learn all about correct VHF operation, and gain the Marine VHF Radio Operators Qualification. The course will be held at the OCC clubrooms on 19th Feb, 9am to 4pm. It costs just $95 per person, with a saving of $40 if you take out Coastguard membership as well (new members only, no renewals).
Win a Free place on the course!
One lucky OCC member will win a FREE place on the course, just by answering the following question…
What is the international distress, safety and calling channel on a VHF radio?
Answers to firstname.lastname@example.org by Tuesday 14th Feb please! Please make sure you are available on 19th Feb to attend.
